1.0 RC5 is here + TVersity on Facebook
November 27th, 2008 | Published in Uncategorized | 9 Comments
Our fifth release candidate is out - this is a bug fix release, designed to address many known issues so that we can finally emerge out of beta.
Your feedback in the next couple of days will determine whether we can make an official 1.0 release or need an additional set of fixes.
A few weeks ago we got an email from James Leenheer, who wrote a review about TVersity in tripletags.com, trying to find out how come we do not have a page on Facebook. After learning what a page on Facebook is, and with a lot of help from James, we now have one.
If you use Facebook, you should check it out and you should definitely become a fan. You will get a chance to meet other TVersity users and exchange ideas in a social environment.

Installer still complains about UAC on vista64 when run using an admin account with UAC disabled. I need to run it in XP compatibility mode to install, so no, this is not ready for a 1.0 release IMO.
Changelog is at http://tversity.com/support/releasenotes/ for those who wonder.

Frode…wondering…when you disabled UAC did you reboot ?
I know I had to do that on vista32 and once I did all worked well.
I then enabled UAC and it’s still working.
I did however get a few Mediaserver.exe stopped working error messages but all seems to now be working properly.

Looks like I had UAC enabled in the control panel setting and the installer was reading that instead of checking the rights it’s being run as. UAC is actually completely disabled on my computer so the setting itself should have no effect on how a program is run normally.

Frode:
Yep, that’s where I turned mine off…Control panel, but then a message popped up saying to reboot to make the setting take.
When I did the reboot, the install of TVersity worked great.
Once TVersity was installed and running, I went back to that panel and re-enabled UAC.
It works for me on Vista 32.

I don’t know what’s going on, but tversity streams MKV’s to my Xbox 360 then later won’t. It’ll stream it as an MKV and then a WMV, it’s crazy.
Can you at least make it so you can force it to transcode as a certain file type. The Xbox 360 supports AVI’s with DivX or xVid encoding, which would make things a lot nicer as I could set it to something that consistently works.

i think this still needs some more thought and re-working before an official release is made.
No.1 on the list is far better consideration for the masses of xbox360 cristmas presents this year
after the price drop to £130 in the uk for instance….
the fact many PC people have or will purchase lots of TI/AMD HD3650 and better HD4xx cards, so have
access to the “quick and dirty transcoder inside the .12 driver set today.
can you make a simple front end to the directdhow drivers and make a working graph to use these in place of the current slow FFshow transcoding graph.
to make it even easyer heres the old 2005 stand alone VIVO app thats been patched for any GFX card not just ATI/AMD Xxxx/HDx cards, it happens to be stightly faster too remember VIVO do all their transcoding in software at this time and its FAST (faster than FFmpeg etc)for quick and dirty, perfect for Tversity realtime use.
http://files.filefront.com/ATIAvivoVideoConverter2zip/;12557121;/fileinfo.html
this app can transcode a 90minute MKV to a WMV 360 compatable container in 20 minutes on a simple core2 2.0GHz machine
so is far better suited to Tversity transcoding your on the fly video.
you should be able to intigrate this into Tversity with a simple graphedit using the ATI decoders/transcoder etc
inside the old app, or the slightly slower ATI only newer driverset….
dont forget the 360 can use UPTO 10Mbit/s AVC and sterio AAC only inside an MP4 container so perhaps
thats the better choice for on the fly transcoding to 720P….. for best quality quick and dirty viewing….
please consider the mass of 360 being used today rather than concentrating on the PS3 a good as that is,
noones buying it this year when the 360’s £130….
heres an old tryed and tested container list for 360,and ps3 you can use to set the bets transcode you want
for a given original content,
