TVersity 0.9.10.5 is here
June 27th, 2007 | Published in Uncategorized | 16 Comments
We are glad to announce the availability of the TVersity Media Server 0.9.10.5. In this release we are fixing many issues and adding a new Radio directory by our partner radiotime.com. We are also adding new features for Sony PS3 owners and Microsoft Xbox 360 owners.
If you always wanted to add your home and Internet content of choice to TVersity via a single button click, this release is setting the stage for that. We now support a one click addition of content to TVersity from third party content sites and also via the Windows explorer. The former is intended for Internet content and the latter is for your home content.
This release is also adding new version alerts, so from now on you will be notified about new releases when running the TVersity user interface.
The full release notes are available at:

You can download the new version at:

As always we are looking forward for your feedback!

Great news!
I’ve always wondered why the PS3 showed the content as being mpeg1.
Guys, a heads up: PS3 just launched firmware 1.82, that adds support for H.264/MPEG4. (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/06/26/firmware-182-coming-soon/)
Judging from your earlier response time, you’ll now be running to catch up again

Nice additions but still having problems, mainly transcoding and playing internet feeds to Xbox 360.
Please see my post on Forum - Official support for details.

PS3 new firmware should not require any changes with TVersity. If anyone finds any incompatibilities please let us know.
Regarding the 360 issues we will get this in the forums. Thanks for pointing our attention to it.

Can some one post options to select on transcoding session, screen shots, as there are couple more options now?

I was running 0.9.10.3. I noticed that ever since I updated my PS3 to 1.81, video playback is choppy/lagging. It worked fine with 1.8 and xbox 360.

Hey ronen, you said the new firmware should not require any changes. Thats absolutly right, but it would be very sweet to use the H.264 Codec for streaming video files because of it’s size and quality. wouldn’t it?

You mean encode videos to H.264? This is not an option since encoding to H.264 is very compute intensive an hence is not a good codec to use for real-time transcoding.

Sorry i meant to say when I upgraded to 9.10.6 my ps3 no longer could connect. 9.10.5 did work. Any ideas?

becks10 we have the support forums for that. My guess is you need to configure your firewall once again to allow TVersity through.

Shouldn’t this blog be updated with 0.9.10.6?
July 17th, 2007 at 4:36 pm (#)
We only announce here releases that offer fixes of interest for a large portion of our user base. 0.9.10.6 is a bug fix release and only people with issues should upgrade hence it was not announced.

can you guys come out with an upgrade to tversity so it can play on the ps3 version 1.90. the ps3 sees tversity the problem is that every time i try to play a video an error pops up saying the server has encountered a problem and must shut down. so if you could that would be nice thanks.

I got the 0.9.10.7 and a PS3
You said : “which gives the user an option between MPEG1 and MPEG2″
How could I set MPEG2 instead of MPEG1? If I run an AVI file through TVersity, if I display the flux information it still display MPEG1… Any help to get MPEG2 will be very helpfull… I did not see any option to change this in your tool.
